Review of Johnny & Co. S.P.C

3.0
The Bad: I came to J&Co to have my undercut trimmed and my longer hair groomed. I had cut my own undercut because of the heat, and because I'm EXTREMELY precise I made sure it was exactly symmetrical and didn't cut or shave it until it was exact (took 3 days of leaving it parted and tied up and checking and double checking before I decided to cut). It was perfect, just needed cleaning up. Unfortunately it wasn't cut *high* enough on each side, I wanted the center back (Mohawk) to grow out and only leave the sides short, and the longer hairs needed cleaning up so they fell right. So I asked for maybe 1 cm higher on each side. MY mistake was trusting that it was done right and not grabbing the mirror once it was parted and triple checking it. It's now perfect on the right, and literally 1.5 cm higher on the left. The right looks groomed, the left looks like I was badly shaved in a gulag. And when I tie my hair up the outline down the back went from perfectly symmetrical to completely crooked. The undercut on the left goes almost the the midline of my head, and the part between long and short on the right wobbles crookedly to meet in the back. If I were a teen or in my twenties I'd be freaking out and in tears daily about it, but since I've wanted this cut for a long time, and since it's already shaved and there's nothing I can do about it, I'm strangely chill and will just wait for it to grow out. However I will buy a shaver and just cut my own hair from now on, because for the next year or two I will have a 1.5cm crop row down one side of my head that sticks STRAIGHT out and looks stupid and will waste tons of my time having to hide until it grows enough. I cannot fathom how any hairdresser could part hair and tie the top up and spend any time looking at it to be sure yet still not notice that it's grossly asymmetrical and crooked. It honestly baffles me.

The Good: After a bad experience at another of the highly rated Manama salons, my experience at J&Co was infinitely better. The stylist seemed interested in what I wanted and actually LOOKED at me like I was a person. Everyone was polite and kind and helpful. I wasn't just another head of hair, nor was I blown off as a non-VIP and therefore not deserving of interest or quality. The wonderful service and kindness of my stylist goes a long way towards not making me OCD cry myself to sleep at night in anger at not having a symmetrical hair cut (any woman with hair knows how emotional we can be about it).
